Ashley Motia

In the early stages of her thanatology and deathcare educator journey, Ashley Motia brings nearly 20 years of professional experience in marketing, writing, and strategic communications to our board. She has designed and delivered college communication courses for the past 8+ years. She also has nearly 15 years of nonprofit volunteer experience, most recently serving as board president for an educational center supporting students with learning and processing challenges.

Ashley holds a master’s degree in professional communication and a bachelor’s degree in English, plus professional certificates in end-of-life doula work, grief and bereavement support, and grant writing. Serving on the board of the Center for Death Education allows Ashley to combine her professional skills, nonprofit leadership experience, and passion for deathcare to support the center’s mission of helping individuals and communities engage more thoughtfully with death, dying, and grief.
