Building Grief and Deathcare Support for Communities of Color with PAUSE

Launched in the summer of 2020, in response to the murder of George Floyd by founder Alica Forneret, PAUSE’s mission is to create spaces that produce safe, culturally-specific, and expert-informed grief and end of life resources serving Communities of Color. Started as a resource newsletter, PAUSE has grown into a versatile organization, offering a blend of digital and in-person support to individuals, corporations, and deathcare professionals.

Join Alica and INELDA educator, Erika Lim (a PAUSE Startlight resident) in a powerful conversation about the roots of the organization, the necessity for grief resources for Communities of Color, and how PAUSE is strengthening networks of grief-informed professionals—from doulas and social workers to HR leaders—to rebuild systems of care that center dignity, belonging, and mutual aid.

From the development of community-based programs to end-of-life ecosystem mapping, discover the profound impact PAUSE is having in the LA-area and throughout the nation.
