Managing Loss and Grief During the Holiday Season
The holiday season can intensify grief. Traditions, gatherings, music, and memories may bring renewed sadness after the death of someone we love. Holidays can also be difficult following divorce, job loss, the death of a companion animal, or another major life transition.
People respond to holiday grief in different ways. Some step away from familiar traditions that have become painful. Others adapt those traditions or create new rituals that acknowledge their loss and preserve a meaningful connection to what—or whom—they are missing. There is no single correct way to grieve or move through the season.
This two-hour live online workshop, facilitated by Dr. Terri Daniel, offers an experiential and supportive exploration of grief during the holidays. Rather than focusing only on information, participants will be invited to engage with practices that make space for difficult emotions, remembrance, connection, and self-compassion.
Workshop experiences will include:
• Creative art and music exercises
• Multicultural approaches to loss and grief
• Story sharing
• Guided meditation
• Heart-centered ceremonies and rituals
• Opportunities to experience grieving in community
Participants will leave with ideas and practices they can adapt to their own beliefs, needs, traditions, and circumstances. No previous experience is required, and individuals may participate at the level that feels comfortable to them.
This workshop welcomes people grieving a death as well as those navigating divorce, job loss, pet loss, or another significant life transition.
Open to everyone. No previous knowledge or professional experience is required.
Registration includes a certificate for 2 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
