1-Part Live Online Class

Exploring the Ethics of Medical Aid in Dying (MAID)

Taught by Stephanie Smith Live Online

Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) raises some of the most personal and complex questions we face at the end of life. This class offers a thoughtful, balanced introduction to why people consider MAID, the primary arguments for and against it, and how different ethical and religious traditions approach the issue.

Drawing on brief real-world stories, the class examines the values, beliefs, and concerns underlying different perspectives on MAID. The purpose is not to advocate for one position or assume there is a single “right” answer. Instead, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the major perspectives surrounding MAID and why reasonable people may reach very different conclusions.

The class is approximately 90 minutes and includes time for questions and open discussion following the presentation.

All class proceeds directly support the Center for Death Education’s mission.
